A Desert Form, Cast in Glass

Glass Cactus Sculpture explores the relationship between nature, material and light through a free-standing floor sculpture built entirely from individually shaped textured glass panels.

Overlapping oval "paddles" of hammered glass are stacked and layered to recreate the silhouette of a prickly pear cactus, each piece finished with a black metal edge that gives the form a bold, graphic outline. Small terracotta-toned accents mark the tips like blossoms or fruit, adding a warm contrast to the cool, saturated green of the glass.

The textured glass surface catches and refracts light differently through the day, giving the sculpture a luminous, almost jewel-like quality, while its layered construction lends genuine depth and dimension when viewed from different angles.

Rather than functioning as a conventional planter substitute or decorative object, the piece acts as a sculptural focal point—using scale, material and translucency to bring an organic, botanical presence to interiors without the upkeep of a living plant.
